Introduction

Healthy Lifestyle Change Made Easier– Starting Today!

It’s a well-known fact that some of the best ways to get healthier is by making changes in your diet, exercising more, and reducing stress.

It’s also a well-known fact that changing your lifestyle isn’t as easy as the popular magazines and TV health gurus lead you to believe it is.

I know from personal experience that it isn’t real easy but I’ve found quite a few ways to make it easier–and that’s what I want to share with you today.

Who am I? My name is Kat and I’m a 20-year ‘veteran’ in a battle against fibromyalgia rainbowsweatsand degenerative arthritis.

Today I’m going to tell you about a new health and wellness publication that presents a unique, sensible and appealing approach to making healthy lifestyle change easier.

But First, Picture This….

We’re going to start with a little visualization exercise. Sit back, relax, and see yourself as the lead character in the story that follows.

It’s six months from now and you’re with a group of your friends on a Saturday afternoon.

You’ve just spent the day doing a favorite activity–shopping, bicycling, seeing a movie–whatever it is that you like to do with friends on the weekends.

You’re thinking about going to lunch and choosing where to go. Some want to go to the nearest fast-food burger place and the others want to go to the health foods cafe.

Your “old self” would have immediately headed for the cheeseburger, fries and a shake. But now you’re thinking about the 2,000+ calories and the 5-pound weight gain. You can almost feel the dripping fat sludging through your system and clogging the walls of your arteries. Suddenly, that meal actually seems pretty gross!

You surprise yourself when you automatically think, “I really could go for the ‘Beans n’ Greens’ wrap and a berry smoothie at the health foods cafe.” The half of your group who was expecting you to choose the burger place are pleasantly surprised by your response.

That’s when you realize you’ve succeeded at making your first healthy choice.

You feel pretty proud of yourself and your mirror and your bathroom scale have been supporting that feeling.

You know you’re on the right path toward living a healthy lifestyle. And it wasn’t as hard as you thought it would be.

Your friends ask you about your new decision. You tell them about a new e-magazine you’ve been reading…

The DIY Healthy Lifestyles Journal

cropped-diyhl-journalcover-wp-img-240x345.pngYou tell them about this great new online health journal and e-magazine that helps you to make healthier choices.

You explain how the Journal led you to explore new foods that taste really good and make you feel better. And the more you try, the more you find things you like. And the more you like, the more you want to explore.

Pretty soon, the whole group–even the burger-and-fries half–is interested. They’ve begun to feel the effects of eating too much junk food and they’re curious to find out how you were able to make the change. So you tell them all about your new discovery….

“The DIY Healthy Lifestyles Journal is full of sensible and appealing ways to make healthy lifestyle changes much easier.

You really CAN start living a healthier lifestyle in just 90 days–or less! I’ve just proven that, haven’t I?”

And with that, you’ve just won your cheeseburger-and-fries loving friends over to the healthy side. Now you can help your friends and your family by sharing what you’ve learned.

Knowing that you can help them makes you feel even better, doesn’t it?

A How-To Guide for Improved Wellness

As our friend mentioned earlier, you should begin notice positive improvement within 90 days of applying the information you’ll learn in the Journal.

I can personally guarantee this because it happened for me.

The Journal was created from my own personal experience in managing fibromyalgia and arthritis.

After 14 years, 4 clinics, 8 health professionals, and uncountable prescriptions, still no one was able to figure out what was wrong with me or what to do about it.

My treatment was based on a process of elimination. Try this therapy. Oh, that doesn’t help? Ok, try this drug. No? Try that drug. No? And on and on it went.

Part of the problem was that many of my doctors were receiving incentive payments to prescribe whatever drug the FDA “just approved indicated to treat fibromyalgia”–when it was still unknown what fibromyalgia was. To say I became over-medicated is an understatement.

It got to a point where I realized I was just becoming a medical science project and a lucrative source of income for a number of doctors. It was time for me to “just say NO!” I knew then that if I was going to find any relief…

I Had to Do It Myself

By this time, I could no longer work and was living on employee-disability benefits and public assistance. A good friend had just bought a new computer and knowing I needed help, gave me his old one so I could do some research.

By some coincidence, I came across two quotes that influenced and inspired me:

“If you want something done, you’ve got to do it yourself.”

~Charles-Guillaume Etienne~

“Do what you can, with what you have, from where you are.”

~ Theodore Roosevelt~

Having very little extra money and not a lot of support from the medical community, I had to do what I could with what  I had from where I was.

As an avid thrift shopper, I began searching thrift stores and rummage sales for health and wellness books, magazines, videos, equipment and gear. Within about three months, my tiny one-bedroom apartment became my own home wellness center for less than $50.

Within 90 days of giving up processed food and eating a whole foods diet, taking supplements, teaching myself Yoga, and learning about aromatherapy and hydrotherapy (bath soaks and steam saunas), I felt 50% better.

The more I learned and experimented, the better I began to feel. Over the following three years, I was able to quit almost all of my prescription medications. My health improvement was upgraded to 80%.

Another Very Good Reason to Do-It-Yourself

Having minimal health insurance and cash is good incentive for putting  together a do-it-yourself wellness plan, but…

Current U. S. political events gives us an even more compelling reason to take charge of our own health and wellness.

The destruction of the Affordable Care Act (a.k.a. “Obamacare”) threatens to put back the barriers to accessible care that the ACA had removed. It threatens even further reductions in coverage and the possibility that many of us won’t even be eligible for any health care plan at all!

So now more than ever, we need to learn how we can care for ourselves at home. With the “promise” of increasing already-astronomical costs while reducing services, we may not have the ability to depend upon health care plans to help us.

And let’s not even think about how much more prescription drugs will cost. Big Pharma has already caused many people to have to stop taking their meds because they simply can’t afford them any longer.

Therefore, “if we want something done, we have to do it ourselves” and we need to “do what we can with what we have from where we are.”

Another mission of the DIY Healthy Lifestyles Journal is to help you do what you can in these troubled times.
